India Tour For Women

Discover India’s most compelling sights with a wonderful group of mothers and daughters

India enthrals, mystifies, and intoxicates its visitors and we can think of no better place to reaffirm a mother/daughter relationship. Travel to the very essence of India enjoying the colour pageantry of the forts, palaces and temples in the land of the maharajahs. Together we’ll explore bustling Delhi, the turrets, towers, and battlements of the grand fort in Jaisalmere, the incomparable Taj Mahal, “pink” Jaipur, and “blue” Jodhpur. We will all join in the celebrations of Diwali, the Festival of Lights (it’s the ideal time to do all your holiday shopping and bring home some of India’s finest crafts.) The mood at Diwali is happy and friendly with visitors welcomed and invited to take part. Palaces, shrines and markets are decorated for the occasion and everyone is dressed up in exotic finery. We’ll tour Rajasthan watching the preparations and take in the big day in Jaipur. Rajasthan is so photogenic it’s hard to know where to look. Our drives take us past yellow fields of mustard, meandering cows, camel-drawn carts, brightly painted elephants, bangled women in lime, saffron, and scarlet carrying silver urns of water on their heads, and pink-turbaned gents leading bullock carts.

This tour packs all the comforts and adventure of a WTN tour with the added mother/daughter magic of sharing this experience with the most special woman or women in your life. Join Debbie and Melissa Ross on Womens Travel Network’s India tour for women, designed specifically for mothers and daughters.

Note: Solo female travellers are always welcome!

Moderate
A good level of fitness is important for this trip. You must be comfortable walking on uneven terrain and irregular paving for at least 2-3 hours at a stretch and climbing stairs. In most places access to temples and forts is only on foot with some steep ascents. Shoes must be removed to enter temples; we suggest wearing appropriate socks.

We are staying in a mix of four star plus Western style hotels for most of this trip. We stay for one night at a very comfortable heritage hotel in Narlai. All rooms have private facilities. Most hotels have swimming pools. Please note that not all hotels have elevators.

During this tour
We will be travelling in a comfortable air-conditioned vehicle driven by a professional driver. While roads are mostly paved except on rural back roads, there are few divided highways. The traffic is much slower with camel carts, and heavily laden vehicles as part of the mix. Therefore, we cannot expect to cover distances as quickly as we might in North America. Some of the travel days will be somewhat long, but we will have regular stops along the way.
