Egypt Tour For Women
A journey through Cairo plus a cruise on the Nile River
In the dense metropolis of modern Cairo, it’s often hard to appreciate the wonders of the ancients. On this exceptional journey, we will whisk you beyond the whirl of people in Africa’s largest city to uncover its history. We’ll explore Cairo’s grand 19th century boulevards, discover ancient mosques, Coptic churches and 10th century palaces, stroll in the medieval walled city of the Mamluks and dive into the famous Khan El Khalili souk. We’ll ride camels in the shadow of the pyramids and marvel at the Great Sphinx of Giza.
From Cairo, it’s a short flight to Abu Simbel where we’ll see the temples of Ramesses II, one of the most famous monuments in the world. We will then continue to Aswan where we begin our luxuriously unhurried exploration of the Nile. From the comfort of the Sonesta Moon Goddess, on our four-day cruise, we’ll visit Kom Ombo, a paean to symmetry and the most breathtaking ruin on the Nile; the black granite modernist Temple of Hatshepsut; the impressive alley of illuminated sphinxes leading to the main entrance of Luxor; and the grand archaeological sites in the Valley of the Kings and Queens. Sipping a drink on the deck of our vessel, we’ll watch the landscape change from lush green to desert-like beige.
